FBT Gibbons is a program sponsor of the Enterprise Technology Association (ETA) Nashville AI Week. The two-day event brings together Tennessee’s top enterprise leaders, AI practitioners, startup founders, and investors come together for strategy, hands-on implementation, and high-value networking at The Factory at Franklin.

FBT Gibbons Partner William Morriss presented a session titled “AI Inventions at the USPTO” on May 12. Historically, patenting AI inventions has posed unique challenges. In late 2025, new PTO leadership signaled a shift in how AI‑related inventions are examined. Learning objectives included how the Patent Office’s treatment of AI has evolved, and what legal and practical obstacles businesses still face.

Additionally, FBT Gibbons sponsored an AI Leadership panel on “Risk vs Innovation: Navigating AI Trust, Governance, and Compliance.” William Morriss served on the panel of legal, security and compliance professionals discussing paths between innovation and risk, with practical frameworks for governance that protect without paralyzing.

AI Week, presented by the Enterprise Technology Association (ETA), is a premiere event series dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence, generative AI, and applied machine learning for enterprise innovation. It brings together Fortune 1000 executives, leading startups, academic pioneers, and government stakeholders for two days of thought leadership, hands-on demos, and high-impact networking.
