Duke is a registered patent attorney and trusted intellectual property (IP) counselor to clients ranging from Fortune 50 companies to high-growth startups. His practice spans the full lifecycle of IP assets, from strategic portfolio development and prosecution through freedom-to-operate analysis, licensing, and litigation support.
Duke builds and manages international patent portfolios with particular depth in the gaming, casino, and financial services industries. He also routinely counsels clients across a wide spectrum of technology fields, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, payment networks, medical devices, imaging systems, e-commerce platforms, and manufacturing systems.
His work extends beyond portfolio management to IP disputes. Duke provides litigation support in federal court and International Trade Commission proceedings, including patent claim construction analysis and validity studies. He also advises clients on trademark portfolio strategy, copyright protection, and trade secret safeguards.
Prepared and facilitated ongoing prosecution of international patent applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
Developed and executed comprehensive IP development program for numerous startup businesses.
Performed numerous freedom-to-operate studies and competitive patent portfolio analysis.
Educated in-house inventors regarding patent application preparation and prosecution and lead invention harvesting activities.
Developed claim charts, claim constructions, and assisted in preparation of Markman briefs.
Involved in a transaction with an Asian sovereign wealth fund seeking to make its first investment in the United States.
