Biography

Liam Mahagan is an Associate Attorney with FBT Gibbons’ Business Litigation Practice Group. His practice is informed by a strong background in litigation, legal research, and judicial decision-making gained through service in both federal courts and government legal offices.

Before joining FBT Gibbons, Liam served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Colin H. Lindsay of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, where he worked on a broad range of civil and criminal matters. In that role, he drafted memorandum opinions, orders, and reports and recommendations, while assisting with case management, hearings, and settlement conferences involving areas such as employment law, intellectual property, civil rights litigation, and consumer protection.

Prior to his judicial clerkship, Liam gained valuable litigation experience as a law clerk with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Civil Division, and the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, where he conducted legal research, drafted briefs and memoranda, and supported litigation strategy on a variety of federal and state law matters.

Liam earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2024. While at Berkeley, he held several editorial positions with the Berkeley Business Law Journal, participated in the McBaine Honors Moot Court program, and was a quarterfinalist in the Halloum Negotiations Competition. He also contributed to the Berkeley Anti-Trafficking Program.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a B.A. in Government, magna cum laude, Liam is admitted to practice law in Kentucky. Outside of work, he enjoys reading science fiction, creative writing, and following the Texas Rangers.
