Caroline handles a wide range of complex business and commercial litigation matters in both state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as in the full range of alternative dispute resolution arenas. Her practice focuses on various aspects of general and complex commercial litigation, including factual investigation, discovery and strategy, briefing and motions practice, and appellate filings in connection with class action defense, common law fraud, breach of contract, business torts, and healthcare disputes. Representative clients include major insurance companies, building and construction product manufacturers, food and beverage manufacturers, multinational industrial companies, and a multistate natural resource company.

Consumer Class Action Defense
Caroline devotes the majority of her practice to representing companies in federal and state trial and appellate courts in defense of nationwide class action claims. She has significant experience defending class actions involving (i) various state consumer fraud and unfair and deceptive practices statutes, (ii) data breaches and security incidents; and (iii) privacy-related claims asserted under federal and state statutes, including the federal Wiretap Act, California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), California Consumer Records Act (CRA), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act of 2003 (FACTA), and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
Healthcare & ERISA Litigation
Caroline advises clients on issues in the ERISA, HIPAA, and emerging healthcare technology fields. She has represented a major ERISA benefits administrator and carrier for a number of years, handling matters of statewide and national importance and litigating a series of high-impact issues, including payor/provider reimbursement disputes, waiver of co-insurance/co-pay by medical providers, and “usual and customary” rates for reimbursement. Caroline also has experience functioning as outside general counsel for her healthcare industry clients, including payors, providers, and healthcare technology companies with particular attention to digital health and health innovation, counseling them in the full range of contractual matters, including review of vendor contracts and physician contracting arrangements, compliance, and corporate matters, as well as resolving pre-litigation disputes
