Alexander focuses his practice on commercial litigation matters, representing individuals and businesses in complex business disputes across the United States. He has extensive experience litigating non-competition, non-solicitation, and confidentiality restrictive covenants found in employment agreements and sale-of-business transactions.
Prior to joining FBT Gibbons, Alexander practiced at Henneman Rau & Kirklin LLP, where he handled commercial litigation and securities arbitration matters. He also previously worked as a Transfer Pricing Associate with Grant Thornton LLP’s International Tax Services group.
In addition, Alexander previously served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Houston. In that role, he obtained significant jury trial experience and prosecuted a wide range of cases under state law and municipal ordinances. He further represented the City of Houston in civil administrative proceedings, including Commercial Establishment Sound Permit Revocation Hearings. For his service and professionalism, he was awarded the 2023 Edward A. Cazares Award by the City Attorney’s Office.
Alexander earned his Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law and graduated magna cum laude from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. During law school, he worked as a teaching assistant for UT’s Financial Methods for Lawyers course, served as a staff editor for the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law, and received a Dean’s Achievement Award for Outstanding Student in Negotiation.
Drawing on his background in accounting, public service, and litigation, Alexander provides practical, business-minded counsel to clients facing complex commercial disputes. Alexander encourages clients to avoid routine positional compromises and to instead explore creative, customized solutions that meet their unique business interests.
Obtained dismissal of a cryptocurrency fraud action against a financial advisor after successfully briefing and arguing a motion to dismiss in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
Represented a manufacturing company in an international business dispute resulting in the offer and acceptance of a favorable seven-figure settlement immediately following Alexander’s examination of a key witness during a Harris County, Texas jury trial.
Secured dismissal of a breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and fraudulent transfer matter brought against a financial advisor and multiple financial institutions after successfully briefing and arguing special appearances and a motion to dismiss in Cameron County, Texas.
Advised and represented numerous financial advisors and registered investment advisory firms in advisor transition disputes involving allegations of unfair competition, customer solicitation, employee raiding, confidentiality breaches, and trade secret misappropriation, achieving favorable outcomes in Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) and American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) arbitrations.
Prosecuted a wide variety of criminal and civil matters on behalf of the City of Houston in jury and bench trials.
Assisted multinational companies with international tax planning and transfer pricing matters, including cross-border intercompany transactions, benchmarking studies, and preparation of transfer pricing documentation for various tax authorities.
Aided the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner in its enforcement actions against fraudulent creditors engaging in usurious lending practices.
