FBT Gibbons is celebrating the 100th anniversary of legacy Gibbons, marking a century of legal service, longstanding relationships, and deep roots in New Jersey and throughout the Northeast during the first year of the combined firm’s history.
The milestone provides an opportunity to recognize the generations of attorneys and business professionals who shaped Gibbons while celebrating how that legacy continues as part of FBT Gibbons. Formed through the January 2026 combination of Frost Brown Todd and Gibbons P.C., FBT Gibbons brought together two firms with deep histories, strong reputations, complementary capabilities, and a shared commitment to clients and communities.
Founded in 1926 by Andrew B. Crummy in Newark, Gibbons grew from its New Jersey roots into a prominent regional firm with a distinguished reputation across litigation, corporate, regulatory, and other areas. John J. Gibbons joined the firm in 1950, later becoming a partner and lending his name to a legacy of legal excellence that would span generations.

To commemorate the centennial, legacy Gibbons employees gathered on Sept. 29 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark for an anniversary celebration. The evening included a special centennial presentation recognizing the people, partnerships, and achievements that have defined Gibbons over the past 100 years.
From the outset, the combination was designed to bring together two storied institutions while remaining grounded in the client relationships, local market knowledge, and commitment to service that shaped each firm. That history remains an important part of FBT Gibbons’ future. The relationships, institutional knowledge, community connections, and traditions developed through Gibbons’ first century now extend across the combined firm, creating new opportunities for colleagues to collaborate and for clients to access broader resources while maintaining the relationships they have long valued.
As FBT Gibbons nears the one-year mark as a newly combined firm, the centennial celebrates more than a historic milestone. It recognizes the people who built it, while marking the beginning of a new chapter in which that legacy continues to grow as part of FBT Gibbons.
