Elena’s practice includes a diverse set of complex commercial and criminal litigation matters in federal and state courts, as well as government investigations led by the U.S. Attorney’s Offices for the District of New Jersey. In the White Collar realm, she has served as counsel in high-profile trials involving allegations of mail and wire fraud, bribery, identity theft, and violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). She has experience drafting dispositive motions, conducting legal research, and overseeing discovery. Elena also maintains an active pro bono practice, and has drafted amicus briefs and argued before state appellate courts on issues of first impression in criminal law.
Elena is a former law clerk to the Honorable David H. Hennessey, U.S.M.J., District of Massachusetts, and the Honorable Jack M. Sabatino, Presiding Judge, New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division. During her term with Judge Hennessy, she researched and drafted orders, Reports and Recommendations, and dispositive opinions primarily on matters of civil law ranging from toxic torts, tax code-based disputes, professional malpractice, and civil rights. While clerking for Judge Sabatino, Elena prepared appellate bench memoranda on issues of both criminal and civil law.
