Biography

Annie is an experienced and trusted counselor who has represented individual and corporate clients in a variety of criminal and civil matters. Her white collar criminal defense practice includes litigating high-profile criminal trials to verdict where necessary, as well as appellate matters, and she has argued cases in both federal and state appellate courts. Outside the courtroom, she has represented clients in government investigations, including those conducted by federal prosecutors, the New Jersey Attorney General, and the New Jersey Legislative Select Oversight Committee. She also conducts internal investigations for private clients into violations of company policies, including those that implicate criminal wrongdoing. Annie’s civil work includes defending qui tam actions under the New Jersey and federal False Claims Acts and litigating complex issues under the federal Alien Tort Statute. She has also defended clients in sensitive and high-stakes cases alleging sexual misconduct and related negligent hiring and supervision. Her clients come from a range of industries, including higher education, healthcare, manufacturing, law, and entertainment.

Annie also maintains an active pro bono practice. She successfully argued an appeal of the trial court’s denial of a client’s petition for expungement, resulting in a published opinion from the New Jersey Appellate Division and ultimately an expungement of her client’s criminal records. She has also appeared in family court and before the Appellate Division to pursue child support and custody issues on behalf of victims of domestic violence. Outside of her legal service, she is on the Board of the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey, as well as a member of the Board of the North Jersey Community Research Initiative. She has served as a member of the New Jersey Restorative Justice Network and supports responses to crime that account for and address mental illness and seek to heal and repair harm, rather than focusing primarily on punishment and incarceration.  She is also the former President of the Board of Trustees for CASA of Union County, an organization that advocated on behalf of children in foster care and the child welfare system, and a former volunteer advocate for the nonprofit.
