Jeff focuses on tax controversy as well as estate planning and estate administration matters.
He has extensive experience in tax planning and tax controversy, particularly for closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals. His proficiency lies in representing clients in income, sales, employment, and transfer tax disputes with federal and state taxing authorities and appearing before federal and state courts regarding these matters. He counsels clients in audit, assessment, and collection matters, and negotiates criminal and civil settlements with state tax departments and the IRS. In 2018, he was the first attorney to win a U.S. Tax Court case against the IRS that involved the statute of limitations for the federal government to assess income tax on unreported income from foreign bank accounts.
He is also adept at composing estate planning documents, including wills and trusts, handling estate administration, and creating business succession plans. Additionally, he is well-versed in representing clients in Florida estate administration and creating Wyoming Trusts for tax savings and creditor protection purposes.
