  • FBT Gibbons Fortifies Texas Presence with Addition of Tax Partner Andrew Botts in Dallas

FBT Gibbons continues to expand its Texas footprint with the addition of Andrew Botts as a partner in the firm’s Dallas office, where he will be a member of the firm’s Tax practice group. His extensive experience advising complex domestic and cross-border tax matters enhances FBT Gibbons’ ability to guide clients through complicated transactions and further deepens the firm’s growing tax team.

“Andrew’s sophisticated, solutions-driven tax practice is exactly what our clients need as transactions become more complex and globally connected,” said Mark Sommer, chair of FBT Gibbons Tax practice group. “His deep experience with joint ventures, fund formations, M&A, and restructurings allows him to truly understand how tax considerations drive deal strategy.”

Botts joins FBT Gibbons from Wick Phillips and focuses his practice on tax planning and structuring for joint ventures, real estate investments, mergers and acquisitions, buyouts, restructurings, private equity, investment fund formation, and venture capital transactions. He regularly counsels clients on U.S. and international tax issues involving real estate joint ventures, investment funds, REIT taxation, and corporate & partnership taxation, as well as general tax planning for preservation and utilization of tax attributes.

“Andrew will play a key role in growing our industry leading work on roll over equity and high-value transactions. We are focused on Dallas and continue to invest in this market,” said Eddy Moore, Dallas office partner-in-charge. “He is technically excellent, commercially minded, and highly regarded for his work on high-value transactions. His arrival continues to strengthen our tax capabilities across our firm’s national footprint.”

Botts has been recognized among Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for Tax Law and as a Texas Rising Star, Mergers & Acquisitions, by Super Lawyers. He is also actively engaged in the professional community through memberships in the State Bar of Texas Tax Section, the American Bar Association Tax Committee, and The Real Estate Council, strengthening his network and visibility across key industry circles.

“My practice is inherently multi-jurisdictional, and FBT Gibbons offers the scale, depth, and collaborative culture that today’s tax work requires,” said Botts. “Joining the firm on the heels of its recent combination is an exciting opportunity; FBT Gibbons is clearly in a strong growth mode, and I was drawn to the firm’s momentum, expanded platform, and shared commitment to delivering practical, client-focused solutions. I’m looking forward to working with my new colleagues to help clients navigate complex tax challenges across transactions, investments, and global operations.”
