FBT Gibbons Partner Doug Walter has been admitted as a Fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA), a distinguished honor recognizing his experience and contributions in the field of real estate finance, mortgage law, and commercial lending. Fellowship in ACMA is by nomination only and reserved for attorneys with at least five years of experience who have demonstrated not only legal excellence in mortgage-related matters but also a commitment to advancing the profession through leadership, writing, speaking, and professional service.
Walter is now one of only five ACMA Fellows in Kentucky. He joins his FBT Gibbons colleague Amanda England, from the firm’s CMBS Lending & Servicing practice group, as one of the select few attorneys in the Commonwealth to receive this designation. The AMCA Fellows program provides a platform for networking, continuing education, and dialogue around emerging legal issues and market trends, with a particular focus on improving the laws and procedures governing mortgage transactions.
Based in the firm’s Louisville, KY, office, Walter is an experienced commercial real estate (CRE) finance lawyer focused on representing banks, private credit and other capital market lenders across the country. His transactional experience includes representing lenders originating commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), CRE collateralized loan obligations (CRE CLO), and balance sheet loans secured by all primary asset classes.
Walter has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch® for his real estate work. He currently serves as co-chair of FBT Gibbons’ CRE Finance team and as a member of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council’s Editorial Board.
